150bhp TDI engine (ARL)

Featured Replies

I wonder if anyone knows whether this engine will go in an Octavia and how hard it would be. Have seen one for sale with gearbox and ECU together. I know it was never speced for an Octavia but it went in Golfs and Leons. As I need a new engine anyway I wondered about this upgrade? I originally have a 110TDI and sourcing these engines seems hard at moment (ASV) Thanks for any help

I think you'll need different driveshafts for this and probably all manner of minor widgets. There was a thread about putting a different box in a 110 TDi (I think) and you ended needing all sorts of little bits and a few major ones too.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be more specific (waits for Lummox/Fordfan et al to turn up)

Why the urgency over the 150? It's essentially the same as the 130, if you fit a 130 and fit a good front mount intercooler like one of the aftermarket ones, you'll be looking at 180bhp or so with a remap. If you fit the VNT17 turbo at some stage, make that 200bhp or a touch more.

Don't forget the 110 can make 160bhp with little work, that bests the stock 2.0 16v 140bhp PD that's out at the minute, but would offer better economy than any of the PD's.

Greg.

You would still need a fuel cooler (not rocket science) plus either the engine ecu de immobilized or get it programmed to your car. Plus you will need clutch pipe work and intercooler and pipe work.

Seeing as this would be my first engine swap I think it is best to go for an ASV. I didn't realise how easy it is to up power these.

Obviously I'm quite hacked off I ruined my original engine in the first place and if I'm putting in all this work just wanted to end up with something a bit nippier after. A 110 TDI with a remap sounds just as good tho! Does anyone know the best place for this in the Manchester area?

Awesome GTi I would guess.

Might need some of the engine wiring too? I know from my conversion I ended up replumbing all the donor car's wiring into my car to get the engine to work.

Edit: Just seen - wise choice I think and I second the Awesome GTI option.

Awesome 3rded.
