I was just wandering would the handling of my mk1 Octavia VRS be dramatically affected by using 16" wheels with a higher profile tyre rather than standard 17"? The reason I ask is, I'm looking for a set of wheels and tyres to use for track days and other motorsport events so that I don't wreck my standard wheels, and sets of 16" wheels seem to be a lot cheaper .

Early ones had 16's so it should be fine.
