I'll have a new engine soon!

Featured Replies

I'll have a new engine soon at this rate! My newest story :)

After my problems with the EGR valve today I set off from a roundabout and the car juddered and stopped wouldn't start, it tried to but no go. Phoned Skoda assist 15 mins later a man in a van came took my turbo pipe off fired it up and sounded like a monster truck put the turbo pipe back on engine died.

He's put it down to the propeller dropping off the turbo and blocking the exhaust pipe, off it goes to the Skoda garge again! Dealer said he hopes it hasn't damaged to exhaust too.

So far we have:

New EGR Valve

New Rear window seal

New turbo to be fitted

New Intercooler

New CAT

New Cambelt

*Maybe* New exhaust system

Any suggestions on what else should break lol

Its wasting alot of my time but the good point is I nearly have everything that can go wrong new!

Regards

Steve

1.9 TDI Elegance, soon as warranty period is over i'm getting rid of it no matter what it costs me in negative equity. So much for this "Skoda approved" bullsh*t what makes them approved???

I'm a IT manager and if a computer came to me which had been used and I could sell on I would make sure it was up to date, any upgrades needed put in place then tested on a bench for a few days before put on sale.

Seems Skoda just look at the service history and go "oh yes that's fine slam it on the forecourt"

WD will get you £300 for 13 months cover on the items you're likely to claim on.

Sorry for my ignorance but what is WD?

Sorry should have clarified that.

I am using that as a way of buffering any loss should i have issue before i change cars.

Well currently waiting for a Skoda person to come out and look at the car to check why the turbo has gone or something as its a lot of money, but new turbo is ready to fit on :D .

Service Manager kindly gave me another Octy II to travel about in until its fix.

Hi all,

Well Skoda person came to look at car and approved for new turbo to be fitted but they have also found that oil has leaked down the exhaust so that is going to have to be replaced. Gonna be Tuesday at the earliest im gonna get it back.

While its at Bickertons gonna get the cambelt done save me another trip back and forward got a good deal on it too from Simon Service Manager.

So far the current level of service at Bickertons is excellent compared to my first experience. keep it up!

Steve

Thats a good result. Not known 1.9 turbos to go i thought all 2.0 had the problems

Think mine was a Friday afternoon car, dodgy one of the pack by the looks of it.

Dad spoke to Bickertons today, a new intercooler has been order as it needs replacing too.

But the exhaust Skoda wont replace it under warranty as they say its classed as ware and tear??? Simon (Service Manager) has been trying his best to get me one but no luck as of yet they are gonna have to see what they can do with my current one, but the CAT is been replaced. Looks like they gotta burn some oil!

Maybe one of these part may solve my stutter problem and chuga chuga noise.

Does anyone know if Skoda now use Garrett Turbos instead of the Honeywell K39's?

After a bit of searching I found that VAG switched from Honeywell KKK's to Garrett as they were prone to shaft failure (Can anyone confirm this).

After abit more reading I came across Turbo Stall's, got a sound clip up and was a bit shocked.... mine did the exact noise in McDonalds drive through! As it was in a enclosed area it made it a lot louder.

Seems the turbo has been on its way out for a long time even before I got the car.

Generally the 1.9 PD use KKK's and the 2.0 PD uses Garrett.

Got it all fitted and repaired now, cars never been so smooth since I've had it. Stutter appears to have gone but will be watching it carefully over the next couple of days.

Many thanks to Bickertons for their help and specially Simon (Service Manager)

Steve
