Skoda fitted Sub

Octaviablack

The sub is dead simple to fit/wire up.

The white block connector fit directly onto the sub. The yellow block fits to (if memory serves me correct) to the centre is the ISO connects on my Woodstock. On Blaupunkts there are 3 connections. One for a CD Changer one for a sub and the other I cant remeber. The red cable is a positve supply..I merely tapped into a feed that goes to the cigarette lghter and also fitted a simple inline blade fuse.

As I said the hard bit was finding somewhere to fit the sub...I wanted under the passanger seat but alas no room. Also in the boot area..its always full of my gear so that was out. I then settled for the front footwell and mounted it there high up and out the way.

With regard to your Kenwood HU I cant say. You'll have to check the ISO connections at the rear. If there is one for a sub then you'll be OK.

I know this unit works with all Blaupunkts and some standard VW fitment radios like the Gamma 2 radio/cassette. I have another sub here which will eventually land up in my Bora.

Setting the sub up via the controls was again simple enuff. :)

what about if i wanted to fir it onto a kenwood hu thanks for the help

As I said..you'll have to thoroughly checkout the ISO connections at the rear of your Kenwood HU. :)

The problem you might find is drawing enough current from the factory supply to the head unit. If this is consuming a max of say 50w at 12v that is an extra 4A load on the cable. Of course you can ground it anywhere - seat belt mount is a usual favourite.

If you have an estate there should be a 12v line already in the boot. I wonder if the cables are also hidden away under the boot carpet in the hatch too?

Sticking it up the front isn't such a stupid idea - car stereos always lack output in the upper bass range, 100-300Hz - basically because of road noise. Mounted up front you could set the crossover much higher and not ruin your soundstage.

Nothing sounds worse, in my opinion, than that Nova-type rumble-boom with no definition due to lack of upper bass!

Thats why I took my power feed from the cigarette lighter and NOT the HU due to the possibility of current overload. :)
