My CD Changer hasn't been working properly for a number of months and has now decided it doesn't want to work at all.

This is my dilema, I want to change it for a Single Din DVD player however I do not have the funds for anything like that at the moment. So these are my options

1, Buy a cheap MP3 HU to get me through till I have enough money for the in-car DVD

2, Buy a phatbox for the current HU, currently retailing around £100 on ebay

3, Buy a 2nd CD-Changer

4, Buy an IPOD/Aux input connector for the standard HU & a little IPOD (would also mean I don't have to bring my laptop into work to listen to music)

5, Put up with No CD's till I have the money for a DVD unit

I want the cheapest solution, I don't want to buy a cheap HU if the sound quality is worse than the OEM HU which although not brilliant is pretty good

I would get a cheap mp3 headunit from ebay (used one) to keep you going, if its a DVD one your after in time.

My kennwood one in my sig is my change of head unit.

What is up with your changer. You have tried air dusting it and checking and cleaning the connector by it that sits by the rear washer pipe joint?

It keeps popping up saying "MAGAZINE". I've had the CD Changer out and have air dusted it. It's very random eg. put a CD in Slot 4 and get the above message, move it to slot 1 and it will play, put a different CD in Slot 4 and it will probably play it.

It's once gone for over 1 month without playing any cd's what so ever then worked fine for a short period. I'm just tired of listening to the radio and want to listen to the music that I like.

Thanks,

I might just take you up on that

Depends if you want to watch movies. If you have a lot of CDs and a iPod player then get a cheap h/u with iPod connectivity.

I have loads of CD's and fed up of changing them all the time, I'm in the car for about 2 hours per day which soon eats it's way through the 6cd changer. The only downside to buying a Cheap IPOD head unit is I don't have an IPOD so would also need to buy one, hence buying a plain MP3 (CD or USB) HU or an Aux input for the standard HU and buy a cheap IPOD

I'd opt for a cheap ipod of ebay and an ipod interface.

How about a cheap head unit that can play a USB stick or SD card? Cheaper than a HU and an Ipod.
