1.9 Tdi Stutter at 2000 rpm

Featured Replies

Car going in for a service on Monday. I've just read in another thread about the stutter. My 57 plate 1.9 does this. Is it a recent problem ? Is it just a software update ?

Cheers

I would have exepcted your car to already have the newest ECU software on it seen as its pretty new.

Mine has a stutter around the same area.... spoke to Bickertons and they are gonna look at my injectors as they dont think its a MAF problem. They said they had the same problem on another car about 18 month ago. Problem is no warranty will change all injectors only 1 untill the faulty one is found :( .

Having a full service done soon anyway, plus ive got a new turbo to be fitted and new a exhaust so I'll see what happens when I get my car back next week.

Just to check does it only stutter on heavy load? I.E going up a steep hill at low rpms? and if you change gear it goes?

Regards

Steve

I have the same car & same problem, its the dual mass fly wheel, they wont change mine until it gets worse.

Hi Steve. It happens only when you change gear at around 1900 / 2000 rpm. It nothing severe just a slight stutter or hesitation.

Not the same problem as me then.

I will ask the dealer about the flywheel Stu4rt

that's scary Stuart. Do you mean your car has the same problem as mine ? What years is it and how many miles ? Is it a 1.9 ?

As I said my just gives a small jolt at 1900 /2000 rpm. The car has only done 7000 miles.

Could it me the DMF ? What should I say to the dealer on Monday ?

Hi guys, my 1.9 PD had the same stutter even after my flywheel was replaced. The fuel temp sensor went shortly after & that seems to have fixed the problem.

Dave

Ah that could make sense seen as mine only does it when the engine is at normal temperature..

56 reg 1.9 tdi estate with 23,000 miles, have had the problem since 10,000 miles, the dealer accepts its the flywheel, but its needs to get worse before they replace, might try another dealer, its all most like a petrol engine mis fire, this happens at the rev range as above.

Yes i have the same and iam due a DMF change soon.I have read on here that a software update can cure this.Mine is a 56 reg so may not apply? and only 23K miles. Also maybe EGR?
