Hello all

Featured Replies

Got a Fabia (mk2) 1.4 tdi 80 mk2 about a month ago. Done 2300 miles (touring N.England/Scotland with our folding camper). This car replaced a Suzuki SX4 1.6 DDIS which was new last December but developed a rather nasty fuel leak after a string of other fauts. To cut a long story short, told the dealer he could keep the Suzuki and they did me a deal on the Skoda (they are a two-franchise dealer).

Very, very happy with the new car. It exudes quality everywhere. A friend who has worked for VW/Audi for years says the build quality is better on the Skodas as they seem to take more care in Cz than the German workforce.

This 1.4 tdi engine is fantastic! Only three cylinders as you all know but it revs very freely for a diesel. Economy is excellent and towing the camper around Scotland I acheived 48mpg average which is pretty amazing. The gearing is perfect as at the max speed of 60mph (towing) in 5th gear it indicates 2200prm which is the point of maximum torque so I guess this is why it does so well on juice.

I wanted to get the oil changed at 5000miles but the dealer quoted me £90 for this as it's the same as a 1st service apparently!! I will probably get this done by a good independent garage instead. Does anyone know what is the best oil to use? Mineral, semi, or fully synthetic?

Bye for now everybody - I'll be back soon.
