What's the chances of retro fitting off the new octy??!

Featured Replies

Wondering if it's just a minor facelift how many things that seem like good ideas would be retrofittable onto an older Octy?

There may be more things than i'm aware of, but two things which stand out are the folding mirrors and the direct ipod connector, which i'm assuming would be a retro fitted jumbo box, replacing the current one with just the MP3 hole. I'm guessing you'd have to fit a new corresponding stereo and possibly do something with maxidot to get the MFSW to work the ipod, but it'd only be a matter of time before someone on here actually went to all that effort if it was possible, surely!

Anyone else know of any toys that are supposed to be appearing on the new octy?

(wondering if I should have waited to get a new one instead of my '58 L&K, but i'm pretty sure I wouldn't have got anywhere near as good a deal pricewise with it being a new model! ...that and I needed a car as my old one may have been expensive to run for another year:O)

From what I've understood, the media in connector in Octy is in the glove compartment. Don't know how they've managed to hide the big and bulky adapter between radio and connector :)

Basically what you need to get the media in to work, is a new radio head unit -> Bolero, Amundsen or Columbus.

I don't think you'll need to anything with maxidot. MFSW should work ok.

They said the mirrors fold by remote, so that probably means new keys, electronics boxes etc

They fold by holding the locking button on the keyfob for few seconds. Had this on my previous Seat Leon. Great feature to have. I guess you need some new wiring for the folding motors and some new electronics to drive them.

I take it all back: after seeing the Paris Motorshow pictures, i'm glad I got the current shape Octy instead of the new one!
