Yet more brake questions...

Featured Replies

Sorry, yet more brake questions!

Firstly. My brake pedal has some left-right movement/play in it. Anyone else got this? It normal for an octavia?

Secondly. Any idea what would cause variable brake pedal feel? I thought things had been cured by a damn good bleeding. But it seems sometimes things feel reasonable firm, sometimes a bit soft. Pumping doesnt seem to affect it. Could this be pads/discs? One disk does have a rust band (ridge slightly in from the edge). Would this "kick" the caliper piston back when releasing the brake pedal? I'm looking to change the pads and discs but want to eliminate anything else from the equation before forking out.

No side movement for me.I would have thought changing your pads and discs then see if you still have the problem.

Garage had a look at the pedal and responded its normal, they have had others like it. Although I'm a bit suspicious, I've never driven a car with a pedal that has left/right play in it. Apparently too much play is an MOT failure, emailed Skoda to get their response.

Anyone had their brake pedal repaired under warrenty for this?

I wouldn't have thought that a brake pedal should move from side to side has the vehicle done many miles as there are two nylon bushes either side of the pedal that could wear after a lot of miles?!?!

Done 31,000 miles, so not a lot really.

Anyone else with side movement/play in the brake pedal? Have to go back to the garage and try to get it sorted, be handy if I had some evidence that its not normal/a "characteristic" of the car. Unless of course others do have this "feature".

Thanks

this is a fault not a feature my friend i have been working as a skoda master tech for the last 3 years and its not the norm get it checked out have been with the vag group for 8 years and not come across this problem!!!
