I just wanted to know if anyone had installed the DPT box, and if they would recommend it. I am also curious as to how they compare to the Dragon Tuning boxes.

I have the Octavia 1.9TDI 110BHP model, incase that will make any difference.

Would be great to hear from anyone who has further information on these.

I have heard good feedback about the Dragon units, but not even heard of the DPT....

Not heard of DPT (unless is stands for Dragon Performance Tuning) but I have heard of Dragon but not on Skodas.

Two brothers I know both have the same Diesel BMWs. One has a Derv Doctor Remap and the other has a Dragon Tuning Box. The remapped can car is better (pulls better across the range) but the difference is not as much as I was expecting.

Out of interest do you mind me asking:

1. Why not get it remapped?

2. How much?

DPT are linked to in the links section on here, basically do not want to do any permanent mods to the engine, and had heard that the dragon boxes had about the same effect as a remap. I have emailed Dragon to see if I can get a price for their unit, but have as yet not heard back.

Remember to get quotes from your insurance company for both options (remap/Tuning Box). Dragon are well known so you shouldn't have any problem getting covered.

Unless you are not sure how long you are going to keep the car and want the option of selling the tuning box to recover some of the cost, I would go for a remap. A remap can be undone for a small charge. Both options are really permanent until you want to sell the car.
