Coloured tyres

Featured Replies

Was reading a Performance VW magazine and noticed a car with bright orange tyres... not seriously contemplating this but is it possible to buy them? Does anyone have any idea?

Stop it, get the thought out of your head ;)

No idea where you would get them from.

*sob* ... But... But... Orange tyre smoke... *sob*

i had a beemer pull out on me the other day, as he booted it there was red smoke coming off his, but thats cockhead BMW drivers for you!

Not my cup of tea at all.

A company called Tomahawk used to make coloured motorcycle tyres - had some orange ones on a KTM supermoto about 5 years ago. They did bright green and blue too.

Bit of a novelty item, but they worked well. Think they still make them, but only for scooters now.

out of interest what colour are your tyres?

Makes us all "uphill gardeners" then, as Carbon Black is added to the compound to give it the more usual black colour.......... unless of course Black is not a colour :D

I'll take a tall pink gin then please ................................................duckie :)

The VW Touareg sport came with optional orange (option of £850) tread ties and now there doing it n the new Tiguan sport too.

Think it looks good, untill you need to change a tie and you cant find somewhere that sells replacement ones or cant afford VDubs replacment tie price!

I have a vague memory of an edition of TopGear where they had got hold of coloured tyres and had great fun producing strange colour smoke from doing burnouts. Is my memory playing tricks, or does anyone else remember it?

A company - that I now can't remember the name of - used to make tyres designed for drifting which gave off coloured smoke.

TBH this is the only real use I can see for them, and I suspect they might not last 20k pounding up and down the M1, if you see what I mean.

IIRC Driftworks (as a supplier) seems to ring a bell.
