Nut for engine cover?

Featured Replies

Just fitted my pd160 intake. I've discovered that the nut that secures the engine cover is now missing.

I'm guessing the cover was taken off last week when I had my cambelt done at a local indy. They must have forgotten to tighten it or not put it back at all. I had noticed a rattle on start up but didn't think anything of it. Turns out its the cover vibrating against my strut brace.

After having problems with my seats being dirty, I can't be bothered to complain again. Does any know if I can order the nut?

If I can't, I will see what I can find in my dads box at home.

Cheers Luke

There isn't a nut that holds the engine cover on. Its clips in at the back and then pushes down at the front.

Thats odd.

Because when I last removed it to fit my sound proofing it had a nut :o

It has a bolt sticking up with a thread on it and round piece on the cover with a sunken hole in it.

The front clips on but the back definately had a nut. Its loose now and just sliding up and down.

Why would it have a thread otherwise???

You dont need to undo that nut, you just pull the cover forward.

The nut is just an M6, nothing special.

I'll just grab a nut tommorow then. It just holds the round rubber part in place then. Wish I'd known that before!
