Replacement Clutch

Featured Replies

I have been told I need to reset the hydraulic lifters in the gearbox when I replace my clutch. My mate is a mechainc but for alfa and he has no idea what the guy was talking about. Can anyone offer me any advice as I want my new kevlar clutch and dmf fitted as they are uprated to cope with my remap.

I don't think there are hydraulic lifters in the gearbox. Ask them if they would recommend you change your spark plugs at the same time. Perhaps you'd be best to replace the rotator splint while you're down there...

Thanks for that helpful and witty reply. I did not fully understand what the guy from the transmission place meant, hence my dumb *** explanation. He said I need to readjust something in the cover plate or clutch or dmf. Anyone know what he is on about.

It is advisable to replace the clutch release bearing when changing the clutch. costs about 40 quid and is money well spent while you have the gearbox off.

They are hydraulic in their operation so maybe this is where the "hyrdraulic lifter" is coming from? lol

Depends on gearbox, not all of them are.

eitherway, would be wise to replace release bearing while everything is apart
