Adding Bluetooth and Ipod

Featured Replies

Well the ONE thing i miss from my FIAT is the ability to use bluetooth and ipod through the HU. I know i have an aux slot for the iPod, but its not the solution i prefer, cables running through the cab and having to set playlists etc. Has anyone else used the Dension setup to add iPod control? im thinking of getting this and running it into the glovebox, i dont have a CD changer so that isnt an issue either.

Also can i add OEM bluetooth functionality, i know it can be done on the Octy II, i have the dance HU with maxidot so can it be done? I know i could get a parrot or nokia kit but these look so ungainly and its something else to take out of the car everytime i park up.

Any help would be appreciated.

There will be many "nay" sayers, but I am not convinced. If you look at the pin outs and cabling for the Dance and the MFD2 (theres a thread with the Dance pinouts in the Roomster section, and Stu has the MFD2 pinouts on Octaviavrs.com there is no major difference and the can hi / lo is there also.

This weekend, hopefully, with the help of my lovely assistant "missy" Mater, we are going to attempt a transplant of mythical proportions and test an MFD3 columbus, in a Roomster. If it works, or with a shuffle of connectors can be made to work, then this Witson unit should fit.

If Carl and I can get the time, then hopefully on Friday evening I will be making a post to either surprise and amaze people ........ or just confirm their doubts :);)

Glad to see you have sold the Punto and got a nice new car. Hope the bluetooth option goes well. I installed a Bury CC9060 in mine a while back. It has great functionality but since you do not like the additional screen (it is removable on the Bury) it is probably not the right option for you.

I will look out for you in the morning!

How much did you pay for the Burry? i can find it for £150 and for that price i think id like to spend the extra and get the all in one ebay unit if it is compatible. Means i wouldnt have to faff around with my tomtom too.

Yeah im glad ive come back from the dark side, its a cracking car, ill look out for you, im harder to miss now, its a bit bigger :D

It cost me just over £200 fully fitted at Uplands which could mean the ebay alternative may be better for you.

I fitted a nokia CK7-W and a 6 disc CD changer to my Dance headunit.

I fitted the mic in the roof lining in the original fit mic hole, hidden all the box and wires, except the button to make it all work which I put to the left of the climate control screen.

I used the wiring diagrams available on here, the stereo mutes when making a call, 'PHONE' is displayed on the Dance HU and on the maxidot, the 3.5mm aux in by the handbrake still works and does the CD changer.

I understand that the CD changer can be replaced with the Ipod interface so I see no reason why you cannot have both. Just hide the Ipod lead in the glovebox.
