did some FMIC testing yesterday

Featured Replies

and results were as expected :) logs on the road show:

ambient temp: 14 degrees

Intake temp: 16 degrees

thats sitting at 70 mph in 6th under load the temps at 50-70mph hit a peak of 23 degrees.

Under load in 3rd the intake temps on the dyno reached 65-70 degrees (average over 3 runs) at peak boost with the standard i/c. With the FMIC on the dyno it averaged 31 degrees over 3 runs at peak torque/boost.

Finished off by writing a custom map to make the most of the decat and FMIC as I hadnt made any map changes since fitting these, the difference low-mid range is huge! peak figures were:

before: 177 bhp and 285 ft/lb

after: 185 bhp and 310 ft/lb

But biggest gains were at 1500-3000 rpm, gained about 30bhp and 35 ft/lb. will try and post some graphs up....

Sounds good Dave! Impressive Temp drop, you got an uprated Clutch on yet?

Nice one.

Good power figures too!

thats the next step... then turbo and injectors.

I'd love to see some of this work being carried out Dave, don't suppose it would be possible for a noob mechanic to come round and watch, spectate huh? Would help with my course :P

having people in the workshop has all sorts of insurance issues Ian, what course are you doing and where? we run training days and work experience with most of the colleges and training suppliers in the area.

What FMIC is this?

have some more pics with the bumper finished, will post them up if you need some.

(and ignore the brackets, they were mock-ups until we fabricate some nice stainless ones!)
