I broke down today :(

Featured Replies

Unlucky :( doesn't sound much fun...

At least it should (crosses fingers!) be sorted fairly easily

Electrical failure is not nice. I had it in the MX5 a few months back. rush hour M56/M6 merge. Middle lane 70mph...all dials flicked over and then back to zero. Along with an erie silence from the now unresponsive engine. Mx5 hood up, electrical windows middle lane, no power, no brake lights, no acceleration, nothing. Got to the hard should a little frazzled. Highways guy pulls up and says I've not parked in the best spot, so I took some time in telling him it was better than the middle lane and he agreed.

So yes, spark problems scare me now, it was the can't wind the windows down to flap my arms in a panic that scared me most :)

Even us techie get em from time to time. I was driving my Polo Variant on the way back from RC Racing one night, up the M1 and the car suddenly cut out. All dash lights etc went then come back to life. Was coming up to J14 services (lived in Northampton at the time) and thought shall I pull over and take a look. But hen I thought what am I going to do if I do pull over, very little in the way of tools with me and no parts as such. So I burried the throttle and thought sod it i'll make it. Not from J15 lights were getting dim so turned everything electrical off that wasn't essential. Literally pulled into my street as it conked out and rolled u to my house. Had a look in the morning and the main battery live to the starter (which links around to the alternator) had snapped off. a quick rummage in the shed and I found part of an old amp wiring kit, few mins later a new cable was made and I was off to work, bonus!
