where can i find out more about my 1.2 htp 3cylinder 12v engine, looking at it it looks like it would have a timing chain not a belt,has it got viable valve timing?,i see its all alloy has it coil over plugs ignition pack? things like that.

The valve timing is pretty viable, but not variable.

All alloy like you say, coil packs as you have spotted. Also has a 120 degree crank for better engine balancing. High pressure fuel system with no return pipe, both filter and pressure regulator are together on the supply line (which up to this point was unusual). Also means that in the event of running out of fuel you can get air stuck in the end of the delivery rail hence the shrader valve on it. Chain tensioner is oil pressure fed, run the engine low on oil the tensioner goes slack and the chain slips, best case new chain and cam gears, worst case new engine.

But generally if looked after pretty reliable engine, reasonable power for what it is and pretty good to drive.
