2 issues with my Fabia vrs

Featured Replies

Hi, I hope some of you may be able to help me on this. Over the last month ive had a slight problem starting my vrs.On every occasion it seems to be after a fairly long drive.

example one: after driving 100 miles and getting home. I take keys out of ignition, and go and open my garage gate. i get back in car to start her up but she turns over and it takes about 5-10 seconds to fire.

example two: the same as above but after just 15 minutes of driving.

in both occasions (its happened about a dozen times) the weather has been either sunny or wet. at first i thought it was condensation in the engine or something. I thought maybe it was the battery so sprayed the terminals with copper grease as per haynes manual

any ideas what this problem is?

the other problem im having maybe minor. i had new bridgestone tyres fitted professionally to front of my car today and since then ive noticed a lack of acceleration. Pressures were checked. my old tyres were pretty much down to about 1.7mm of thread so very worn out.

do new tyres need bedding in?

i have had new tyres fitted before (this is not my first car) so am surprised the car seems to have slowed down quite a bit.

problem 2 with the tyres has been sorted! it transpires tha event mobile tyre service that fitted my fronts did not balance them properly. i took it to a local company who charged me £10 to re-balance both fronts.

they showed me that event tyres had put the weight on anywhere and it caused the steering wheel to wobble at high speed. event maybe able to get away with this kinda service with people who are not bothered, dont care about their car or are just blind to notice these things, but not with me.

lol

thats the last time i use event tyres. :thumbdwn:

Hmm, not sure on the hot-starting issue but I think some other people on here have had the same. Mine's definitely a troubled cold-starter, but has no worries once warmed up.
