replace '04 Fabia Door Mirror?

Featured Replies

Thanks to a bit of unwanted attention from local youths I have a need to replace my passenger side door mirror.

I have a Classic 1.4TDI 2004 - it has manual door mirrors and I have obtained a replacement mirror. However it looks like I need to remove the entire inside door panel to be able to change the mirror - does this seem correct? And if so is it easily done?

Many thanks,

Got it done thanks:thumbup:

In case anyone does need to do this you do indeed need to remove the door panel Someone had posted a useful link on the forums for this:

Fabia-vrs.com - Re-sealing Fabia Rear Ancillaries Carriers

The only thing I'd add to that is - there are three philips screws behind the pull handle, there are three tork screws (think size HP10) along the bottom of the panel and behind the door release is another tork screw which needs to be removed. Also when removing the windscreen winder handle (if necessary) then use a screw driver to push the collar away from the handle (the guide said to the side which I found confusing for 10 foul mouthed minutes) and you will see a black clip which you can flick off with another small screwdriver whilst pulling the handle (another tip someone had already posted here).

Apart from that when changing the mirror I would suggest first removing the foam packing rather that trying to work around it (again my foul mouth let loose) and the bolt is a large tork which I didn't have to hand but a flat head screwdriver did the trick.

Hope the above is of use to anyone who get's stuck.
