Gear shifting in new octy vrs

Featured Replies

Right...have just completed my first 1000 miles run in period in my new octy so it was time to give it a bit of a kicking, but have found that the revs stay high when the throttle is lifted and the clutch dipped meaning grabbing second quickly causes the car to lurch or hang back when the throttle is decked....hope this makes sense to somebody.....have never had a turbo'd car before so is this "just the way the car is" or is something not working as it should.......

Could it not be the traction control, holding it back. My Fabia RS does that sometimes, if you arent smooth with it.

Traction Control does have a lot to answer for, but doesn't it normally kill power rather than keep the revs up? Have a read of this thread for traction control probs... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showthread.php?t=12579

Could it be something as simple as having too much throttle on as you are dipping the clutch on a fast gear change, therefore causing the engine to rev between gears?

Sorry Usico!

Edited your post beyond recognition by mistake....so deleted what was left.......many apologies.

All gives the impression of an engine with a heavy flywheel

RS does have a double mass fly-wheel.....reduces the kangaroo effect in slow traffic.....IIRC

Gear change....mines fine....can be a little obstructive if you're rushing it though. Agree with the clutch travel.

There goes my 15 minutes of fame! No problems - probably didn't make much sense then!

Assume nothing can be done apropos the clutch travel - I find that the most annoying.

Always had my old GTi's set up to work on the smallest of pedal depression and got used to it, so I guess I'll just have to take it sloooooowwwwwer

Oh well. At least I don't kangaroo in traffic...
