Columbus - Traffic Anouncement Hearing Loss

Featured Replies

Any columbus users out there know how i can set my traffic anouncements to something less that the volume of a thrash metal concert? I keep setting it to 'min' in the volume settings screen (access via setup button). however, when listening to the radio etc, as soon as an announcement comes on its about twice the volume of the current source.....i.e loud...

Ideas?

Can you adjust the volume during the broadcast?

Yes Stu I can. The only problem is that that works for the rest of that particular trip. It seems to default back to 'concorde engine' mode on the next run....

If you go into the volume settings im sure i've seen that you can adjust it from there.

I have.....alas it seems to make no difference :(

it does on mine. have you tried doing a reset of your device. i had to do that the other day as mine stopped showing nav on the Maxidot. So it might just be playing up.

Yup, had to do a reset cos the satnav was about 100 meters out on junctions. Handy as you go shooting past turns you should be taking!

You defo sure you have altered the TA Vol and not the Nav Volume. Just asking incase you have played with the wrong setting

Did you (or did anybody else) ever find a solution to this - mine's exactly the same?

I've got the Traffic Announments set to minimum (Via Tone), we're driving along listening to the radio, on comes a TA at such a volume that SWMBO leaves her seat by a good few inches

Mines working fine, but I do have the current latest firmware installed (V1024).

May be slightly better after a reboot ("<" ">" & "i" all together) but not fully convinced yet, as only had one traffic announcement on the way to the office this morning.

HW-Version = H04

SW-Version = 1004

No - still at "concord level" :thumbdwn:

What's your hardware & software versions for the Radio?

Mine displays as -

Where do you get firmware updates from for the Columbus?

You need to look hard, they are out there, try looking around vwnavi.com and also searching for torrents.

Flashing the columbus firmware is not for the faint hearted, as if it goes wrong you will brick the unit. The upgrade takes about 45mins, and if you read vwnavi you will see that it can and does go wrong.

Is it not flashed automatically when the car is connected the dealers computer during service?
