Just bought a Superb

Featured Replies

I have been looking on and off for a while, in need of another car for long distance commuting. I looked elsewhere for a while finally ended up with a Jag XJ6, now for sale, (don't ask ;)). Finally took the plunge and bought a 55 plate Superb 1.9 TDI Comfort Manual with 61K on the clock. In Magic Black Pearl black with the biege cloth. Very impressed with the performance, pick it up next weekend. It is an ex lease car (Lex) one owner, it needs a good polish and wax but is in excellent condition but there is a small dent on the sill by the front wheel arch, I'll post some pics up when I get it to see if you good folks think its worth sorting. There are the usual small scratches by the door handles, nothing that wont polish out. It was last serviced in June but tempted to get an oil change just to 'reset the clock' under my ownership.

Oh and I checked the passanger foot well, the carpet was a bit damp but so was the whole interior carpet as it had just been valeted. Had a good poke around the footwell and couldn't see any signs of water ingress.

have the chance to buy a warranty from www.click4warranty.co.uk their '5 star' warranty including aircon and turbo and ABS cover comes in at £250. Any thoughts? or is it just wasted money?

Hope you enjoy your new wheels when it arrives, pic's of it looked nice in the other thread.

As for warrenty, just read small print very carefully as they sometimes have a maximum claim limit.

With www.click4warranty.co.uk you can choose between £3K/£5K and £7K for claims limits; no maximum number of claims but they must not exceed purchase price. So I selected £3K max claim limit. I know they are a minefield, but it is a bit of piece of mind I suppose.

Will post my pics of the Supurb when I get it!

Good luck with the Car. I was looking at that one as well (online) but in the end I decided to go with another one (which I will pick up next friday).

Did you manage to get something off the price, or did he not bargain at all?

There was no bargaining, I tried but he did say yesterday that the price was fixed. I don't have a problem with that, as you know, it was one of the cheapest late registered Superb on Trader.

What one did you go for?

So, you went for car #1! :)

Looking forward to the pics, hope it works for you!

Superbia, I think Bluefox was refering to dasb's choice of car, not mine :)

Yes, I went for Car number 1. I just liked the whole combination (Grey Metallic on the outside and the beige velour inside). I was considering this black one, but I usually look after my cars very well, and hate any kind of scratches etc. Unfortunately on Black Metallic and Blue Metallic you can see every little scratch straight away, and that annoys the hell out of me.

So I decided a few years back that I wouldn't buy a black car anymore. I love to look at them, but now owning one. :o

The one I bought is not online, as I got my hands on it before the dealer managed to put it up. Will take pix next weekend, and put them up here.

So what was the spec and price paid dsab? I know what you mean about black cars, they take a lot of looking after, but I couldn't be too choosy about colour with my budget.

It's a 1.9 TDI Comfort on a 55 Plate with 68K miles.

As I had the cash, and no part exchange I knew I might be able to bargain him down quite a bit. He wanted 6300, but in the end I paid 5900.

But that includes a new MOT, a full Service with Cambelt change (usually due at 80K) and a full valet. Initially part of the package was also a 12 months warranty with the garage. But as the garage is in Cardiff (and I am 200 miles away) this was no use to me. So we agreed that I get a 6 month waranty with an external company instead.

As the Service is probably worth around 500 pounds on it's own I am pretty happy with what I paid. Good time to be a cashbuyer.

So , looking forward to pick it up on friday morning.

Bloody hell, dsab bargains harder then me lol.

Pretty similar deal (and car) to mine, 55 plate 1.9TDI Comfort, 61K, I paid £5595 as a cash buyer too. I have to pay extra for the tax. It was serviced in June at 55000 miles, but I plan to have the cambelt and service done in the new year, will be about £550 at David Ian Skoda in Morecambe, I reckon. It was MOT'd about three weeks ago and had new front pads at the last service. The lease company printout also showed a clutch at about 23000 miles. (?) I am also debating the benefits of buying a warranty for £250 from click4warranty.
