VRS theft warning for Berkshire

Featured Replies

A little warning to anyone in the Berskhire area - Some swines tried to take my Octy II vrs on Saturday night - from my drive, under a streetlamp, next to my front door. They diddnt get further than breaking the barrel lock in the door, but obviously they may try to finish the job.

They are driving around in a small red car, either a Vauxhall Nova, old Corsa or Nissan Micra. Definately Red. They have colleagues in a green M reg Astra. Spotted boith cars checking mine out over the weekend.

As some of my neioghbours have much more expensive cars - the police are guessing it was a targetted attack for the VRs model.

If they come back I will provide as much info as I can on the scum - like how many of their bones I break with a baseball bat.

Sorry to hear that. What is it with race blue vrs?

sorry to hear that mate, little BA**Ards

Yep - its a bluey.

Only the keylock was damaged though - so it looks like a professional job.

Police are all over it now. the car was dusted before 8 in the morning, photos done, road tested for, er, 'stuff' and all the little bits of lock taken away for analysis.

They also have details of the scum's car (as much as I have) so hopefully they will be found and brutally punished very soon!

Maybe it was picked because they thought it would be easier to get into, the old skoda stigma in action. Skoda = No or Useless Security Measures, maybe.

But the why is irrelevant I suppose, the fact they tried is enough.

Sorry to hear about your car, hope its not too badly damaged and they string them up if the catch them.

idiots... what exactly do they expect to do once they are in??

area of berkshire????????

bunch of fkers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All they will be able to do is listen to the radio.

Anyway glad the ****s didn't take yours and that it gets repaired very soon.

Many scumbags think the barrel locks on VAG are still suceptable to tampering to gain access.

This was resolved back in 2003, so no too cleaver as you have deadlocks - just ensure they're always active by one button push on the fob.

Might be worth a gear lock or something else to buy you some time to ID them or vehicles.

PS keep safe. They may try aggrovated key taking if they really want it.

the truth is that vrs's are becoming known for their power etc. like the golf gti's and the astra gte's of the early 90's with more and more vrs's about its not as obvious as nicking a suburu or mishy!! i dont know what the theft rate or attempted theft rate is of the ford's ST range is but if it looks racey then it probably be nicked these days. i think im now off to invest in a gear stick lock too.

Did anyone get any details of fitting the vag gear stick lock that the foreign skodas have?

SUK were looking into it, as for some reason it couldnt be fitted to our gear sticks for some reason that escapes me, but sounded silly IIRC.

As stated, what were they trying to do as the alarm would be going off as soon as they opened the door and the immobiliser would stop them driving away in the car?

Just a thought but can the immobiliser and alarm be bypassed with vagcom?

If you're really worried get internally beaded windows with full steel reinforcement and laminated glass double glazing unit's downstairs. Same spec for doors.

Laminated glass sealed units are usually 4mm external 6.4mm laminated internal panel.

Then make sure you lock all doors and windows downstairs and have a phone upstairs.

i dont think double glazed car glass would catch on. the quickest and easiest way into a car is through the window and it doesnt take much force either (coming from someone who has punched a window out after a car accident).

Not as far as i am aware, but one of the other programs could find you the codes. you could program another key to it that hasnt been programmed before, but it would be easier to go to an older car and hack saw off the steering lock before hotwiring it.

The best security measure would be to take the dashpod out each night as all the codes are stored in that (stu might be able to give more info on that).

I think Mark might have been referring to double-glazing in the house!

On the car front, I'd look at the security film option, from someone like Pentagon. And a Disclok for an obvious visual deterrant.

Mate, you must be livid. I'd go ape **** if I caught somebody in the act!

Personally I'd hunt them down and kill/brutalise them. I always keep a big bit of wood behind the door, to make sure i can get it to their faces as fast as possible.

There is nothing worse than the feeling of being robbed.

If you ever catch them, let me know. I have some pent up anger waiting to be released from a previous robbery......

(Don't worry Mr. Plod I'm not an Autovigilante, I just wish I was!)

you can use reasonable force to protect your property and if you feel threatened by them with the baseball bat that you managed to snatch off them (make sure you get their finger prints onto the bat when they out stone cold) then you have nothing to worry about ;)

They can prove whose prints were on it first and whose second ;)

I somehow doubt that would stand up in court as smacking them once so they run away might but battering them wouldn't.

Moral of this....

Don't get caught ;)

Hide the body.... Well..... :D

Amnesia is a terrible thing, no?

Isn't it possible and legal to do a "citizen's arrest" with reasonable force and keep them pinned to the ground, perhaps accidentally smashing their face hard into the concrete 3 or 10 times?

Or become friends with a pig farmer. :)

but not in the boot, will lower your 0-60 time and use extra fuel
