can anyone tell me the valve clearances or tappet clearances what ever you prefer to call them for my girlfriends 1.4mpi AQW fabia??

im aware the tappets are hydraulic but the clearance between the pushrod and rocker arm is adjustable i think??

I believe you're not supposed to touch them as they are hydraulically controlled. Is there any reason you want to adjust them?

I thought they were hydraulic too, in which case they can't be adjusted.

If we're right, and the car just sounds tappety on a cold start, that's pretty normal, particularly if there's an oil change due in the next 2 or 3 thousand miles.

They are hydraulic but there is an adjustment on them. Its more like a basic setting of a certain ammount of degrees, but once set unless the valve train is renewed they shouldnt need to be touched.

yeah i see what your saying about not needing to be adjusted but was just wundering what the setting should be

its getting noisy when its cold and warm now and has had a oil/filter change not so long back, thought i would try this first then maybe look at the timing chain

its done 60k but is getting noiser

It will be the timing chain then not the tappets.
