Mk1 vRS under bonnet dyson

Featured Replies

My vRS sounded like a dyson on startup, so I looked through the forums to see if someone had a fix for this. Yes they did!! So I read it and done it. Basicaly it's the extra air pump on the front of the engine which is held together by rivets that corroed and allow the sections to gape and leak. You need to remove the rivets and replace them with 4mm by 50mm set screws and nuts, this seals the sections and now it's so quiet you can hardly hear it :D. Only problem is I can't find the post again to thank them:confused: or put a link up because it's such a good post and very easy to follow. Didn't cure my misfire though, I think thats a fueling problem which needs a bit more investigation. Does 130mph no probs but struggles to run at 10mph:(

EDIT:- Found the link Step-by-step guide for repairing the Secondary Air Pump (with pictures) - uk-mkivs thanks to jazzbass
