Electric window problems

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Two of my electric windows have packed up. Both make a noise but fail to move so I'm presuming the regulator is broken rather than the motor failed. does anyone know if any other VAG cars (Golf, A4 etc) use the same regulator? (makes scrappie hunting easier)

Also is there a guide to replacing anywhere as I've yet to pick up a Haynes BOL or a workshop manual (are these even available?) and a search has only turned up the (very good) door card guide.

Thanks

Iain

Did they both go at exactly the same time? If so, that would be pushing the odds quite far :)

Unfortunately no idea, I only bought the car last week, however the rear passenger and all important drivers window still work.

If it's a grinding type noise and you can still hear the motor, then sounds like window regulators. I would have thought the fronts would fail way before the rears (as in my case).
