RNS510 - Latest maps version?

Featured Replies

I'm yet to fit my RNS510, however I get the impression it has V2 of the maps on.

V3 I know added Postcode search - which I feel is a bit of an essential feature.

Searching around EBay I found the V3 maps available at a quite reasonable £50

VW Seat Skoda RNS510 RNS 510 Navigation DVD Map Disc V3 on eBay, also GPS Systems, Navigation GPS, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 13-Dec-08 16:11:59 GMT)

Before I buy this ready for my install - does anyone know if there is anything like a V4 on the horizon?

I'd hate to pay £50 on the V3 and then find a month down the line I could have put that £50 towards an even newer version.

Mine is a V4 - It's likely you don't want the V3 disk anyway as most of them don't have TMC data encoded into them.

Can I ask where you bought your V4 maps from and how much you paid?

Once I've got my RNS510 fitted I'd like to be using the latest maps/software as soon as possible so I'd like to get myself a copy.

Thanks.

It came with the Navigation unit, extracted from a smashed '58 Reg Passat Highline. I'm going back for the dash now I know it's in colour!

Walt yours is a different map if you are referring to you unit in the Fabia.

The current map for Columbus is V3 I think, that had the UK postcode fix.

Latest RNS-510 disk is V3, released in about April 2008. All V3 RNS-510 disks have full UK TMC, on both A roads and Motorways.

I must admit that I hadn't seen a V4 for the RNS510.

A little Google around and there was some mention of it being a "fix version" released by VW.

Thanks for the confirmation.

I may have to get pictures! - my RNS 510 in my Passat has a blue VW DVD case and it says V4.0 Western Europe on the front. It was pulled out of a 2 week old Passat that was written off and I had the Sat Nav and the wheels from it. The MFD2 that was in the Passat originally had a V3.0 DVD that the TMC didn't work on, but that was incompatible with the new unit (different map supplier?)

The Fabia unit doesn't have version numbers - it's so old they just change the dates now:D
