Air intake - Help please!

Featured Replies

Had my 04 fabia vRS for a few weeks now. Love it to bits! Planning some mods for it. Im away at xmas but when I get back taing it to JMK in portsmouth for new pads, coilovers, new cat-back then shortly after a remap. (still unsure which one).

Looking to do a few things myself over the comming weekends. Purchased a debaged grill. Want to get a new air intake. Looked at the pd160 but wonderd of there where any others that you have used, K&N, BMC etc. Looking for one that looks decent under the bonnet, will help get a few horses out of the remap and also sounds good. Any pics or advice of ones installed?

cheers,

josh

I think the pd 160 and a panel filter would be about right for getting the right power out the map and it looks oem, keeps the engine bay neat and tidy. Quite a few foke fit, or try to fit the BMC CDA, use the search function and you'l find fitting guides and pictures etc. Think with just a normal cone filter you would suffer heat soak, and they sound weird in my opinion. lol

Ok thanks. Il look into the pd160, does it replace the standerd airbox or just the intake pipe? The panel filter size obiously depends on the airbox. Will it be easy to fit or do I need a range of clips, clamps and hoses?

PD160 intake is just the pipe from the airbox to the intake at the front of the car. The airbox and filter remain unchanged.

to swap the pd160 its just a case of one screw i think, 1 minute job. The airbox is easy aswell, cant remeber if its clips or 2 screws, either way you might need a posi screwdriver, and 2 minutes of your time. Just order a panel filter, k and n, or green or whateever one you fancy, and they'l send you the right one to fit.

I think this might be of some use to you.

10 minute job to fit. :)

Cheers

Dave.

You really won't need anything more than the PD160, because all diesels run on excess air anyway so the intake system is oversized to begin with (the PD160 will help keep the smoke down, though!) Get a panel filter by all means, but it's debatable whether there's any benefit over and above making sure you replace your paper filter regularly. Do all your 'material' mods BEFORE you get the car remapped, to make sure you get the most out of the map. Most other things should be revealed through the magic of the Search button! ;)

Ok thanks for the help guys. Im going to go with the pd160 and a new panel filter. I will do all the mods before the remap. Give me time to do a bit of research into where to get it done.
