EGR pipe

Featured Replies

I have been told there is some sort of failsafe device contained in the EGR assembley which stops the engine over running after the ignition is turned off.

Im not a techie but someone will confirm this shortly.

never knew that....

oh well 62k on KKK, remapped, egr bypass and its had death and were all good

The ASV, anti shudder valve, is this failsafe thing. Anyone heard of a PD engine over-running? I certainly haven't. :) But I have a couple of cloths on standby should I need to cover the air intake pipe to stall it due to lack of air. :) I don't see myself ever having to do that though. They only over-run when there is a serious oil problem and the car continues to drive on the engine oil after the diesel has been turned off.

We've had one engine here that sucked up its own oil, big hole in block bent and snapped rods... Anti Shudder valve didnt close at all..

Oh dear.

Just ordered My egr bypass pipe from kevin at Jabba seems a really nice guy.

Cant wait to get it fitted and boost gauge wired up woop woop:)

I had an allard one - great apart from the engine management light is permanantly on, as i knew it would be. Better than oil everywhere though.

I can map out the engine management light on non motorised egr valves. I havent tried a motorised one yet...

If you are talking deiesel, I regularly blank them with a solid gasket, no CEL lights on the VE or PD. It's a LOT cheaper than anoher pipe and some of the replacement intake pipes don't have the anti-shudder valve, which can save your engine in event of over fueling/runaway/oil level too high situation.

You can buy them purpose made or make your own, replaces the one between exhaust manifold and the stainless EGR pipe, works a treat.

Don't try to disable in Vag-Com in adaptation as it backs off other settings and will reduce engine mpg/efficiency.

Greg.

Really, are you sure?

Hasn't effected mine so far, and mine is turned right down.

Same here. 70K and still getting 50mpg on the way to work.

We've had CEL lights when blanking egr on fabias that have had garrett units fitted instead of kkk's.

Hence why we can now map them out..
