vRS TDi Engine Cover

Featured Replies

My engine cover is loose.

Is it held on positively or merely located in place? I spotted this after my car had been in for it's "Fix the DPF" recall. All I had though was the remap as my pressure sensor was replaced a few months ago.

Why would the dealer have removed the cover.

Have my crappy dealer struck again?

I've tried to replace it but I think there may be some bits missing...

same happened to me - ended up paying 65 quid for a new one as they TOTALY denied that they had done it.... :(

i know they did though!! GRRR

Think I'll stick it in the garage then till the lease is up (the plastic cover that is not the car).

The 2.0L TDI engine cover (both parts) is held with ball and socket joint-like clips. The sockets fix to various brackets on the engine. The socket bits failed my car after several on & offs with the engine cover. I found that the equivalent part for a golf 2.0 L TDI is more substantial and fits perfectly. They are only pence.

part number: 03G 103 184C SOCKET

How many of these clips do you need to replace the Skoda parts?

I only replaced the ones which were not holding ball part properly. On close inspection you could see that they had become distorted.

I bought 4 in a packet from the local VW dealer.

Just had a look under the bonnet and guess what - the engine cover has come off. I think Ive put too much vaseline on my balls and now they wont stay in place. Ill give them a good rub and see if more friction will do the job - failing that i'll replace all the original one swith the better VW ones.

Seriously though, mine is always coming loose, the clips have been replaced once already by the dealer (warranty claim) although it doesn't seemed to have fixed it!

I have just had the DPF done and i have noticed that the cover was loose (broken clips) and the foam was coming unstuck. Oh well cable ties it is or the dealer can do it next service as only 18 months old and 3 servcies later (never had to touch it myself).
