Dashboard buzz

Featured Replies

Had a buzz coming ,I thought, from the dashboard, absolutely convinced of it. Then read on here about the button in the rear view mirror for auto dimming possibly being a culprit. Applied the Bluetak which appeared to temporarily fix it. Realised as I was readjusting the Bluetak that holding the mirror solved the problem, and that vigorously adjusting the mirror eliminates the problem for a few days.

Anybody any thoughts on what/where is the exact source of the noise?

I too had a buzzing sound, but i thought it was coming from the front passenger seat belt height adjuster. Turned out is was my sun glasses in the holder by the rearview mirror. :)

+1 :)

I did exactly the same weekend just gone.

Me and wife in car, could hear "rattle".

We spent entire journey looking to see what was causing the noise.

Turns out I'd put my sun glasses in this holder the other way up to how I normally do.

Removed, placed the other way around - rattle gone.

Do you have little plastic tube behind rear view mirror. Mine was buzzing against the glass of the windshield. Applied double face tape between the top of the tube (where tube is wider) and the glass and noise was gone, forever. But let me tell you, took me one month to discover the source. I even took apart half of the dash. Big fun was driving arround one afternoon with half of the dash on the floor and buzzing still on.

How I found it?

Slaming the drivers door while sitting inside the car reproduced the buzz. If I only have tried that earlier...

Oh and another source for a noise for me.

You know the little plastic clip against the front windscreen - for putting parking tickets and that kind of thing in?

Mine was gently tapping the glass as I drove along.

I carefully bent the far edge down towards the window so it now rests on the window and not half a mm above it - another "rattle" gone :)
