Roomster 1 1.2

Featured Replies

Hi everyone ,just joined the forum , we have just ordered our Roomster 1.2 for our disabled son and ourselves on the motobility scheme ... after looking at a few other alternatives ..decided on the Roomster ....Skoda have certainly moved on in desgn and build havent they...i remember the old 105 120 estelles etc ! Worked in the motortrade for a long time and wow what a cracking car and design the Roomster is

Looking foward to chatting

Welcome to briskoda, enjoy your car when it arrives.

Good decision!

Hi Chris we just took deliver of our 1.9TDi 3 on the Motability scheme as well! We used to have the Mk1 Fabia Estate but I managed to persuade the wife that the Roomster is more flexible... which it is!!

I assume thats a "nil" advance payment on that model?! We made the mistake of ordering just after the prices changed and ended up paying a grand more than if we'd ordered in September! Well, you live and learn!

Ours is used to cart around either a folding wheelchair and a walker or an electric buggy... and a model railway as well in the future!!

Welcome to Briskoda Chris

The roomster is a cracking car and hope all goes well with it mate.

Thanks everyone, yes looking foward to getting the motor we dont take delivery till Dec 17th the day after we come back from hols ...yes its the 1.2 with nil payment ...couldnt see why (though i think the wife might disagree) lol we needed to put extra to it to get higher spec, etc . Personally i was brought on the the older motors of the 70s etc , worked in parts depts on the older stuff, and tbh im not into all this jazzy interior stuff so a basic model will do for me ....as long as it get my special needs buggy in for my boy and stuff when we go on hols it will do for me !

Good luck with the new car. You should have no problem getting all the kit you need into the Roomster. I've tried, unsuccessfully to try and fill mine on trips to the dump.

You'd be surprised how big one of those buggies are, GG, even when dismantled... if there's just the three of you you should be ok, and you can take out the middle "seat" to make more luggage space if necessary.

We did look at the Berlingo/Doblo thingies but they are far too big to fit in our garage and I can't be bothered with all this ice scraping when I've got somewhere I can store it and prevent the ice forming! The big advantage of the Roomie is its relatively small "footprint" - its the same size as the Fabia Estate but with a more flexible interior... thats why we got it against the Fabia. We also looked at cars such as the Focus and Ce'ed but again they were too large (in width).

The only main thing it falls flat on in terms of the load space is the lack of a flat floor.

Its pretty flat compared with the Fabia estate... and you can take the seats out which you can't in the estate... thats the reason we changed from the estate to the roomster - the rear space is far more flexible in the Roomie!

When i mean flat, I mean a flat opening. the floor drops down from the boot opening.

Ah!

Never really had a problem with that, its not as if the boot opening is small and its not that high of the ground... If it was a van then I could see the problem...

Everyone to their own, I suppose!

(PS you should see the drop on by daughters 1997 Polo if you think the Roomies bad!)

I was thinking in terms of wheelchair/buggy access. Don't get me wrong I love the car it's one of those things where you think ..."if you did this..."

Evening guys/gals,i think ive misled folk here ...we choose the Roomster as my son has a major buggy ( a bigger pushchair made by the pram people Maclaren) ..think it might have come across as its a wheelchair etc ....

Ah, I now see where Decron was coming from as well! I'd have said that the Roomie is too small to take a wheelchair unless it was a folder - certainly it would only be a two seater if you did! Thats what the Berlingo is for, you need a van for that sort of load!! ;)
