what the f*ck is wrong with my laptop

Featured Replies

As above - every time I browse the internet I get random new windows appearing every few minutes (sometimes up to 9 of them) advertising such cr*p as Welcome To Instant Prize Draw

and similar.

It's really beginning to p*ss me off and I don't know how to stop it.

Can anyone give me a step by step guide on how to block them?

Pleeeeeeeeeease?????

download spybot search and destroy, sounds like you have some spyware.

is spybot good then? I've tried something like that before and it made everything worse. (on an old laptop)

Is it easy to use?

Try adaware - has sorted issues for me.

Ensure you have something like AVG installed for antivirus cover as well.

Okay folks, I'll try it tomorrow. Also, the keys randomly don't work,so when I'm typing something I endup missing out letters and spaces randomly. Is this linked d you think??

It could be, some spyware and viruses can have very odd effects.

The home of Spybot-S&D! get the definition updates too and install both. Scan with that and you'll be amazed how much is listed. It should remove everything and make it well again. If odd things still happen, you may have to reinstall Windows completely.

Run ad-aware, spybot and Windows Defender (from microsoft site).

Also, post up a hijack this log file so we can have a look for anything obvious (or help you identify what is is).

If you get stuck you're welcome ot pop it over and I'll sort it out for you some time.

It may be something simple that is loading in startup.

If you know what you are doing, click on Start - Run and type msconfig.

Under the startup tab, remove everything apart from your anti-virus product. Reboot and test.
