Hi there im new to the board and i was wondering

Featured Replies

Is there a particulate filter on my car ?

Its an Octavia 2.0 tdi 140 hp Its an 08 plate and has covered 3k

Its just a friend of mine has had to have his filter done and it shocked him how much it was ,His car is a peugeot 307

He told me that he tops the tank up every week just to keep it brimmed and recons everytime he takes the fuel filler cap of it does something to make the filters life run out quicker (This is what he has been told)

Just wondering if this is the case with mine , and how much is one of these filters for the octavia,

Cheers Darren,

Nope.

Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is, in the Octavia range, only fitted to the vRS PD170 engine and IIRC the 2.0L TDI Scout PD140.

Looks like you have escaped!

My engine is as it says in the book

2.0 L 103 KW TDI PD- EU4

Have i escaped ?

The particualate filters used in VAG cars work differently to Peugeot et al (FAP)

The VAG filters occasionally run at higher temperatures to incinerate the built up particulates.

The Peugeot FAP uses an additive + post injection to do the same job but at a slightly lower temperature.

the upshot of this is the additive needs to be topped up after a certain mileage and the filter needs to be taken out and regenerated by Peugeto but (IIRC) they run an exchange programme where you get a certain amount back from them.

As Bahnstormer says, you have escaped.
