Infinity Basslink

Featured Replies

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I'm currently considering getting an Infinity Basslink instead of getting an amp for my current 15inch Vibe (think it might be a touch overkill and its a bit too big for my liking).

Anyway my question is how difficult will it be to install one of these and is it a lot easier than doing a separate amp plus sub? Can't find any newbie guides on the net on how to install a sub - is it just possible to wire the cables down the car without taking all the trim off?

I was thinking down from the glovebox area (assuming theres some holes in there somewhere..) and then under carpets/front seats and then under rear carpets/seats and into the boot? Also, how many wires in total are needed to wire up the basslink?

Bass link will require a battery live and remote from the headunit. It can be earthed locally.

It will also require the input from the headunit (RCA or line out iirc)

You really want to run the power leads up the left hand side under the sill trims/carpet and the RCA leads up the centre.

Its no different from fitting a sub/amp other than it takes up less physical room and you dont have a speaker wire from the amp to the sub.

Earthed locally? Is that just sticking one of the wires onto a metal part of the car?

Do the sill trims/carpet areas come off easily or are there tools I will need?

^ Yes, well you want to fit a nut on the bodywork under the carpet somewhere and secure the wire to that.

It'll weigh a bit less than a traditional sub-amp combo as well, I'd think.

I'm very much considering one of these for my Fabia, as I want to keep the stock look with the Symphony HU.

I currently have a Pioneer installed in my S2000, but I think it may look a bit out of place in the Fabia?

@ Des PD TDI - would you mind posting the set of pics up that relate to your installation of the Infinity Basslink if you still have them?

I just did a quick search and Infinity now make some additional basslink sub/amp combos, I think I will go with the 'Basslink II' (see the top three items in the following list):

Sorry I didn't take any install pics, but the install was very easy.

I ran the power, RCA, live down the transmission tunnel, simply by lifting out the rear coin tray or whatever you call it and removing the two torx screws, this will give you enough leverage to raise the centre console to lay the cables. There is an earthing point behind the trim in the boot where the boot light is located.

Des....

ok sounds simple from what you said and thanks for the tip.

how did you get the live from the battery through into the cabin please?

Remove the glovebox completely, again torx screws. You also need to pop out the side panel at the end of the dashboard which will allow the glovebox to drop, disconnect the power for the glovebox light, remove the tubing for the a/c. You will see a gromet behind that where you can run the cable through the firewall into the engine bay, be prepared for a few bruised knuckles, I actually did this part first, which builds up your enthusiasm for the remainder of the install.

Unfortuanately I have actually removed my sub as we have a kiddie on the way so really need all the space in the boot I can lay my hands on, otherwise I take some final install pics for you.

Think I'm gonna purchase an ipod adapter next to link this upto the Symphony, won't take up any babygear space so the wife won't be-grudge me that :)

Cheers
