Remap & CO2 emissions

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've just put a deposit down on an '07 vRS (my first one!) which has been remapped to 170bhp. The dealer has offered to have it reset to 130bhp as my primary reason for buying the car is for it's economy...however...

Does anyone know whether or not a remap increases or decreases CO2 emissions...and if so whether the tax bracket then changes?

I'm really torn as to whether to keep the remap or not...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

wont change tax bracket...leave it as it is imo.

Agreed wont change tax bracket. Only thing that it will change is your insurance so you must notify which ever insurance company you will be insured by.

Thanks for that, best find out how much more the b*****ds will want before keeping it!

Is it that nice Black one with Xenons and Spiders that was on Pistonheads? IIRC that had a switchable 170bhp remap. If so, lovely looking car!

Fuel economy could actually be improved depending on the map :)

Yeah, I think thats the one. Pic attached - can't wait to get hold of it on Friday!

Have spoken with the insurance company, but apparently I need to call back tomorrow to speak with their 'Performance Car Department'....sounds expensive!!!

Now I've decided to keep the remap, my plans may all get ruined by Norwich Union!!!

this is potentially true

if you had it set back to 130bhp, you'd be hankering after turning the power up within a few months anyway..... may as well keep the map :D

You would have got a substantial discount on the purchase price thanks to the non standard wheels and the fact that the grille and engine have been tampered with,so that will go some way towards the extra insurance premium :-)

Yeah that's the one! Exactly how a vRS should have looked from the factory. Hope you enjoy it!

TDI's are not mesured on CO2 at an MOT so it dosn't realy matter. Remaps are brillient keep it mate.
