Tell me about your deals - VRs TDIs?

Featured Replies

I'm currently phoning around dealers to see what sort of deal I can get on a VRs TDi (standard aside from Columbus Sat Nav).

What prices have others been offered?

Please let me know the dealer and if it included extras etc.

Thanks in advance.

If you can't get 15% off (including jumbo box & climate, possibly 18" wheels) then you're just not trying hard enough. Don't be afraid to walk away from the dealer if he's not going for it; they really need to get a sale.

FYI, I purchased a vRS TDI at the end of August, it was approved-used, 1yr old with 4500 miles, jumbo box & climate. I got 15% off because the dealer was desperate for sales; he said (and he may not have been entirely truthful) that he only did the deal for figures, and the car didn't make them a profit (finance did though, the poor guy still has to eat!).

Good luck!

15% is a little over the top, when our working margin about half that. But that said it is a buyers market at the moment.

Does it have to have satnav and any particular colour you must have?

Working margin is less than that? Wow.

I guess I got the deal through having the finance then... Interesting to note.

I certainly didn't want to screw the guy to the wall, I work on commission too so I understand the pressure. Still, he was happy with the deal (think it helped his figures as much as anything).

Exactly, at the end of the day it's just a case of you want to buy the car and we want to sell the car. We are working towards the same objective just from different angles.

Blimey, that's refreshing to hear from a salesman! Sorry James, couldn't resist even though I understand exactly what you mean.

If its of interest I was told from a dealer that they could do me 14% off the list price.

And, I bought a vRS this week and figured out the discount to be 14.92%

Don't forget the 2.5% reduction in VAT the government announced recently....

I living in Ireland and the retail price here is €29500 on the road.

I got it for €27000 cash at the end of August. I though that was a good deal

And doesn't that sound so much nicer than the buyer saying "I want to pay as little as possible", while the seller says "I want to get the highest price possible". ;)

If you can reach a point of agreement then there is a sale, otherwise there isn't. I usually can't be bothered screwing the dealer down to the absolute rock bottom, but I know some people where doing just that is a point of honour.
