Wheels Lacquered or powder coat

Featured Replies

Can any one advise me when I get wheels painted is it best to get them Lacquered or powder coated anyone had theirs done looking for guidance.

Powder coating will be a more robust finish. With a lacquer, you risk this being broken down, especially by salt or grit on the roads. The lacquer can then lift slightly and water will get in, and corrode the bare metal underneath.

So I'd powder coat personally :)

How do they come from the factory? Is it a powder coating with a lacquar finish

I have no idea was thinking that myself.

Depends on the wheel. A factory alloy wheel would usually have some kind of final coat lacquer on though.

I will be getting a new set of 18 inch from the vRS painted black.

factory is paint or paint+lacquer. Powder coat is much more durable.
