Afternoon all,

I'm in the middle of replacing the headlight switch on my Mk2 Favorit, and have hit a minor snag.

There's two wires that come from the side of the switch into the male end of a plug - these two wires have the blades on one end and are soldered onto the switch at the other. I presume they provide the power for the bulb inside the switch.

How do you remove the old one's, so I can plug the new blades into the plug? Its almost like there's some lugs retaining them, but I can't find them to release them.

Im not familiar with the favorit but if the pluga are anything like the VAG cars of a same era as you look into the plug from where the wire enters you should see the that the connector has a spur that sticks out slightly. To remove the connector from the sleeve just use a small watch makers screwdriver to hold the spur back whilst easing it out of the sleeve.

Thanks for that oldeboi - I saw the spur and figured something like that but couldn't get it to disengage. I'll just keep trying... :-)

2 white wires provide power to the bulb. The Mk2 had two different types of connectors, some biggish ones with round pins were the early ones (like on mine), and flat ones with vw/audi branding were on later models.
