The clutch pedal is at least three inches above the brake pedal. I've tried adjusting it. Here's the stupid question. You do try and bring the pedal down but tightening the nut (clockwise) don't you? I've tightened it to the point where I can't get the locating clip back on, but the pedal has not moved at all. Am I doing it right?

:)You're going the wrong way....try anticlockwise [undo the nut].

The pre tension spring on the pedal has probably broken
