OKay thats Fords name for passive anti theft system, basically its a key with a chip in it that talks to a transeiver on the ign lock that allows the car to start, so even if someone copies your key the car still won't start without the chip being programmed in. Now my question would my '96 L&K have a similar system or are they just normal keys, and when did Skoda start fitting this system? I do know Ford Galaxy uses them and this is just a VW Sharan with Ford engines, (VW ties with Skoda) cheers guys. I have an ulterior motive!!!:D

AFAIK most manufacturers do this.

My 1995 Asta had a similar system.

I figured my felly probably would, just that I may be getting a very tatty 1.6 felly of '96 origin as well, and was thinking of an engine swop and pwr steering swop, (it would be easier than fitting all my L&K stuff incl, the ABS and my body is in better nick). So i was thinking if i needed to swop the ign barrel with the programed key for that ECU just means i would have a different ign key to doors unless i swop the door and boot locks as well????
