Door seals, drop links, brake pads + turbo !

Featured Replies

Well, I'm usually quick to moan at my Dealers (Farmers Skoda in Nottingham), but thought I had really good service there yesterday.

Firstly I booked my car in several weeks ago for the rear door sills to be done, and asked for a courtesy car, dropped the car off as planned and got a 1.4tdi new Fabia for the day.

They rang me a few hours later to say that in their general inspection of the car, the brake pads were low and did they want doing (I had new tyres a couple of thousand miles ago and could see at that point they were getting low, so didnt argue). Obviously you pay over the top, but I asked them to look at the suspension at the same time because of a crashing over bumps.

Well, I picked the car up later that day, and they had replaced the drop links (? whatever they are), and also on a test ride they noticed the turbo was making a noise (I thought it was meant to whistle!), so they have also ordered a new turbo.

The car felt sooo fast after the courtesy car, and it goes over bumps now without crashing, yay !

So whilst my wallet is a little lighter from the brake pads (45K miles), Im happy that the suspension is sorted, and that a new turbo will be fitted a few months prior to the warranty running out :) .

I think they must have been having a slow day at the workshop.

Cheers.

As long is it is fitted under warranty... :smirk:

Makes a change from having to beat the dealer with a big stick to get anything done :D

Horners in Manchester were most obliging when I got my mooing calipers sorted, even though they'ed been fine until I put the (non-standard) discs and pads on! Maybe that's why they went bust... :(

Well, new turbo fitted, and whilst the clutch seems a little bit notchy into and out of first (wonder if this could be oil contamination, not sure why fitting a new turbo could cause this), all work completed under warranty.

Turbo still seems to whistle, will take their word for it that it needed doing. Just need to remember that these things will probably need doing again in another 45K miles.

Cheers.
