Can Anyone Help With These Part Numbers

Featured Replies

Got the following from a scrapped MK1 Octy 1998 mine had the usual central locking fault (unlocking itself) So i managed to get the following to sort this problem out.

Conveiniance ECU (Part No: 1 J0 959 799 L)

Serial No: ZM-MIN 5DK 007 951-06 I37098

Drivers Door Complete Wiring Loom (Part No: 100 971 120 T)

Serial Number: 01 10-099

Date Stamo: 26/01/98

I also got the Drivers Door window buttons and the drivers door window mechanism with the master Control unit attached but i couldnt get the part number off this as the sticker had come off.

I am hopeing that this will cure my problem with the doors locking as i drive along and unlocking in the middle of the night when it should be staying locked.

I havent started stripping out my old parts yet but just wanted to ask if the part numbers were ok.

Everything worked before i took it off the car so heres hopeing this will solve it.

It was a shame to see it in the scrap yard though, some lorry had ran into the passenger rear quarter panel ripping it like a knife through paper. It had done 195,000 and still sounded sweet as a nut when it was started up.

Cheers everyone

It would probably be easiest to look at your original parts and compare the numbers.

The convenience units all seem to have 1J0 959 799, then the last letter (in this case 'L') varies depending on the age/spec of the vehicle as far as I can work out. You'll need VCDS to re code the convenience module (it's easiest to pull the code off the old unit before it's removed, then just copy it into the new one once it's installed).

*Edit - You'll also need to re-code the remote buttons on your key.. You can do this with VCDS or by using the manual process which is available on vRStu's website.

Thanks Phil, Will i still need Vcds for the convenience module even though the car it came off had exactly the same electrics (door mirrors, 4 powered windows etc)

Unfortunatley i dont have acesss to this (what is this compared to vagcom?) sorry to sound silly. Does this look like i will have to get a dealer to do the work :( (I didnt realise it needed to be re-coded) as the convinience unit came from a car with the same spec electrics Bloody electrics .

I know i should of checked the part numbers before but didnt want to miss out as all the taxi lads are after parts from it aswell (it will be a carcus by the end of the week ;).

I hope this will sort out my doors from unlocking themselves otherwise it will most likley be a faulty door motor switch in one of the doors

I am determind to sort this

Thanks again

Thanks again, I dont have remote locking on my car its just manual (could this bit be skipped) or does it still need to be re-programed.

Cheers

Hmm... I'm not too sure. If the two vehicles are the same then I would hazard a guess that you might get away with it. I would certainly try before you pay a dealer (and even if it doesn't work, have a look at the vag com members map in the diagnostic board, im sure someone local to you will help). It might be best speaking to someone more clued up than me. I'm speaking from my experience when I changed my convenience unit (although I got mine from a mk4 golf GTTDi so the coding was different).

You will need to code the key remote buttons in, but you don't need vcds for that.

Ok ignore the bit about the keys  Yes you can skip that bit if you don't have RCL.

Cheers Phil, The only diference between the 2 cars was that mine is a 1998 S Reg, 1.6 petrol GLXi and the one in the scrapyard what i got the parts from was a 1998 S Reg, 1.9 Diesel SLXi both cars had the same interior functions...

Electric Sunroof

4 Electric Windows

Electric Door Mirrors

Drivers door control unit with 4 power window switches with child lock for the rear windows

The car i took the parts from also did not have remote locking and I did test everything on the car before i took it off so it all works.

The only question or problem i may have is that is there a possibility that the main ecu wont recognise the convenience ecu or are the 2 completley seperate systems.

Thanks again  I am going to try and attempt this tomorrow (weather permitting)

I think they run independently, but wither way I'm sure that won't be an issue.

I am hoping it will be ok. I have the following probs which is why i bought the parts...

Drivers side front and rear doors opening by themselves after locking them, this usually happens through the night.

Windows that work then dont work, then work on their own.

Electric mirrors faulty that when trying to adjust the drivers side mirror both mirrors move outwards.

Drivers Side Rear Door deadlocking itself when driving then unlocking (only does this on this one door only.

Lights left on warning buzzer sounding like morse code (on off on off) and not a constand buzz when opening drivers door.

Back passenger side door not locking or unlocking attall and has to always be opened manually.

boot not opening from drivers door but when done manualy opens and can hear the motor then this locks all the other doors when I have only put the key in the boot.

Interior courtasy light flashing like a disco light rather than remaining on (this only happens when opening drivers front door. Other doors it stays on.

I have been told the MK1 Octy does have the same wiring as the passat (hense all the problems.)

I am going to fit the following so if it dosent cure it i dont know what it can be....

Full drivers door wiring loom

Drivers window mechanism with the Control Module

Convenience ECU Unit

Drivers window control buttons/module

I will keep you posted.
