Sidelight switch Felicia

Featured Replies

Dear All

How on earth do you remove the sidelight/head light/ hazard light switches from the dash of a felicia? The side light switch broke and I have a replacement coming but I have no idea how to get the old one out. Any help would be great as it is non-drivable currently in this dark weather....Thanks in advance. John

I'll have a play tomorrow since my Felly is borked.

I have just seen a post from '05 saying that you need to remove the fasia and push in the pins from behind to get them out, seems straight forward in that its just 5 screws holding it in. One thing confuses me it says you need to detach the speedo cable from the gear box to allow you to pull the face forward enough to get hold of the buggers is this right? and if so which cable is the speedo....i have figured out what is the gear box so thats a start.....thanks again

It wont be hard seeing which is the speedo cable!!!

Its easy enough taking the dash off

Its a bugger trying to get it back on. :D

will keep you posted....lol.....

The speedo cable will uinscrew easily by hand. There's a very obvious cable from the bulkhead behind the instrument panel that goes onto the top of the gearbox.

many thanks for that....i will have a go on sat.

Blimey , I had that , was not an easy job , in fact I left it after scraping fingers

I got my son to do it for me instead :(

There has to be an easy way

hold on are you removing the buttons or the whole dash?

You dont need to remove the instrumend binnacle to change the light switch, just the plastic trim

Could someone post a step by step guide please as I need to replace my headlight switch. It would be appreciated.

so far so good here is what I did to change the buggers. There are 5 screws to remove: 2 screws at either side of the switch plate (lever off the balnking plates), there is one in the middle of the air vents under another blanking plate (the one with two filled and unfilled cirlcles on it) there is one behind the blanking plate to the right of the steering wheel over the fog lamps and one under another end blank on the fog switch plate (to the left of the switch). I did not take the speedo cable off completely I just pushed some slack through from the engine bay to the allow you to pull out the black plastic finish out. It is a fiddle so give it some elbow grease to pop it out but not all the way you should have just enough play to get at the switches. They are held in by 2 barbs whcih you have to push in (one above and one below) then they slide out through the front. At the rear is an electrical plug that you need just to puch onto the new one after you have slide it in to position (it should click when the barbs locate). I popped the fasia back together taking care to guide the switches into the correct hole (you will see what I mean) with espeical care on the fog lamp switch which is easy to get stuck when the fascia is slighly rotated (you will have to rotate slightly to get it in past the steering wheel. Then thats it put back the bits you took off and wahoo....or at least thats what I found

In addidtion i should mention that the switches and their connector blocks have different terminal arrangements so if you get a replacement you may not have the right connectors. In my case I bought a headlight switch on ebay whch had the wrong connectors but i got a pair of pliers and pulled off the terminals at the end of the switch (a while plastic bit) and put the old set of side light terminals in instead. So new switch but old terminals. I also have got the head light symbol on the front but I can live with that. It works fine as the mechanism is the same inside its just different externals. There is a resistor on the intternals but it was the same rating if you are going to canabalise another switch check first. I hope this helps someone.
