Octavia TDi - strange noise!!

Featured Replies

Don't know if anyone can shead any light on this - I have a 2000 110 TDi, when I stop and turn the ignition off there is a nosie from the engine compartment which sounds like a spring releasing???????? I have taken it to the dealer and the man in the overalls frowned, listened, fiddled with various pipes and then confessed - 'that's pretty normal mate - it's a release of pressure from this (pointing to to something between the bulkhead and the engine)'.

Is this normal? Is it simple? Should I just turn my super sensitive hearing down? Am I not used to having a refined car after driving a Jeep.

Answers and abuse would be welcome.

Ta very much
