is it dragon that seems to be the popular tunning box? if possible always remap but then if its a company car or something then tuning boxs can offer something inbetween.

For that amount of money you would probably be better off with a Bluefin

I would never spend more than £150 on a tuning box, and would never get one that isn't a digital system like a dragon.

I've had both systems and the dragon is OK but they make it run a bit rough, remap is so much better and much smoother.
