After a bit of google'ism it would seem that there are other ECUs that will work in my car. The part number I have is 038 906 019 AF. Most ECUs seem t have all the first 9 numbers, and the two letters signify between engines. Apparently VAG COM tells you which ECUs with different letters work on - and from what I could tell on my travels there are 7 or 8 variations for the ATD PD100 engine.

skospares can't help me get one unfortunately, so I'm not sure where to get one should my chipped ECU be fooked.

Maybe Jabba can sell you one?
