Vag Com serial interface problems

Featured Replies

I have been given a vag com interface (serial not USB) I can get it to communicate with the engine module 01 but get an unrecognisable error and implausible error (can't remember code).

If I do an auto scan on 409.1 shareware it seems to be always retrying baud rate.

My mate told me that he used it on his RS4 and his mate used on his RS6. The OBD socket only has 3 pins. He used 208.1 so he says.

I am just looking for help/direction, I just want to enable 2nd fog on my octy2 (I have seen other help on this forum that I can follow easily).

Interface only has 9141 3 OBD-II and ISO on it and nothing else.

Am I doing something wrong, software sees the interface; I have removed buffers as well?

Many thanks in advance for any direction.

OK,

So it looks like its an out of date cable and I was lucky to get any comm's at all.

bit confused though because cars that it has been used on show same interfaces as my VRS accept I have additional comms (micro can.)

i guess i should just buy a newer cable as suggested, i see others have had success with Ebay cables (i don't want to open that can of worms) as disussed in other threads i am just tinkering.

The compatibility list only applies to currently sold Ross-Tech hardware, it does not list discontinued Ross-Tech hardware or 3rd party hardware. As stated by mannyo already you seem to have either an older interface from us (what does the label on the interface say?) or (which is more likely) a 3rd party interface.

3rd party/eBay hardware will not work on the 1Z at all, neither will it work with any VCDS version newer than 409. A 2007 1Z should be used with the latest version which is currently 805.1 with data version 20081017 (new one to come soon).
