What does it really mean

Featured Replies

:confused:Today i had our A5 serviced and it is 3 years old now, by the way its the 140 dsg Elegance. The battery test say's "sufficient", now although i have never had problems and only do around 7000 miles per year what life can i expect with that comment. My Primera battery lasted 8 years, Would appreciate some advice.Thanks.

Welcome to Briskoda. Lots of friendly people here and a wealth of useful info.

It is very hard to predict battery life. A lot depends on usage, but also you seem to get good ones and bad ones. If you do lots of short trips in winter and at night your battery may not be getting fully charged up just from driving. If that is the case a good "intelligent" charger (3 stage) may be a worthwhile investment.

Was the test done a "load test" ? If you are concerned you could also get the charging voltage checked (to see if your alternator is charging at the correct voltage).

IIRC some Octys have had problems with excessive current usage (when switched off) flattening batteries which reduces their life span dramatically (cooling fans was one cause, but I think there have been other reasons).

Most of my batteries seem to last 3-5 years. 8 years from a battery is pretty good going.

If you do a search you may find some posts about battery life and flat batteries.
