Hi, cool site, lots of useful info

I have got a Octavia estate slx tdi (110bhp). I have been pleased with its performance up till now, but it has developed a really bad flat spot further up the rev range. Has anyone got any ideas as to what i could try doing myself before taking it to a garage?

Also, i have got any annoying water leak above my head, looks to be coming in at the edge of the windscreen. Again, has anyone got any advice?
